The Honorable Wayne Berman
Wayne Berman is a Principal at the Federalist Group. He also was the founder of Berman Enterprises, a business development consultancy that merged with the Federalist Group in January 2004. He also serves as Vice-Chairman of JLT America, a London Based international insurance brokerage. He is a Trustee at the Center for the Studies of the Presidency and has served on the Library of Congress’ Board of Trustees for the past 4 years. In the early 1990s, he served as a managing partner of America Mercantile Group, a private merchant bank. In January of 1989, President Bush appointed Mr. Berman Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Policy, a post from which he was the principal adviser to the Secretary of Commerce, served as the official U.S. liaison to foreign business groups. From 1985 to 1988, he was managing partner in a Washington consulting firm. Prior to that, Mr. Berman advised clients on their international development strategies as Vice President of Corporate and Political Affairs at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, the renowned research institute, in Washington, D.C. Mr. Berman has played a substantive role in numerous Presidential campaigns, including as a senior advisor to the Bush/Cheney transition in 2001, the vice presidential campaign director for Dole/Kemp and deputy director of the Republican national Convention in 1996, direction of congressional relations during the Bush/Quayle campaign in 1988 and a deputy director of the Bush/Reagan transition team in 1981. He also has served in a variety of fundraising capacities for Republican races. Mr. Berman, a native of Rochester, New York received his Bachelor of Arts at the University of Buffalo and attended graduate school at Georgetown University. He and his wife, Lea reside in Washington, D.C. with their two daughters.
