Mr. Lawrence E. Bathgate II
Mr. Bathgate is the senior partner at Bathgate, Wegener and Wolf, attorneys-at-law, Lakewood, NJ. The firm represents many domestic and multi-national corporations in a variety of business-related matters. Mr. Bathgate has been recognized as one of the 100 most influential lawyers in America by the National Law Journal. Mr. Bathgate is involved in a diverse array of civic, philanthropic and political activities. He currently serves on the Board of Visitors at the The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas; a Council Member of The Woodrow Wilson Center, Washington, DC; the Board of Regents of Seton Hall University; the Board of Directors of the New Jersey Performing Arts Center; Board of Trustees of Liberty Science Center; the President’s Advisory Committee of Arts (Kennedy Center, Washington, D.C. – appointed by President George W. Bush); the Board of Directors of the U.S. Consensus Council (Search for Common Ground, Washington, D.C.); Board of Trustees of Newark Boys & Girls Clubs; and the Board of Trustees of Ocean County College Foundation. Mr. Bathgate has been the recipient of a number of awards and honors, including an Honorary Doctor of Laws Degree from Monmouth College; National Conference of Christians and Jews, Monmouth-Ocean Counties Chapter Brotherhood Award and Award for Outstanding Contributions in the Field of Human Relations, Business and Civic Affairs; and Distinguished Alumnus Award (25th Anniversary Class) for Villanova University. Mr. Bathgate served as Republican National Finance Chairman from the end of 1987 until September 1992. During his tenure as Finance Chairman, he founded “Team 100” the pre-eminent and largest fundraising arm of the Republican National Committee. He previously served on the George H. W. Bush for President Committee as National Finance Co-Chairman. In 2000, he served as National Finance Co-Chairman of the George W. Bush for President Committee. Mr. Bathgate is a resident of Bay Head, NJ, and is the father of three children, T. Pamela Lauren, Leslie Knowles, and Lawrence E., III. He is a graduate of Villanova University with a Bachelor of Science in Economics and a graduate of Rutgers Law School in Newark with a Juris Doctor.
